History
The project originated from Approach Software, a startup founded in 1991. The company developed the initial application, which gained recognition for its user-friendly design. Approach Software was acquired by Lotus Development in 1993. Following IBM's acquisition of Lotus in 1995, Approach was integrated into the Lotus SmartSuite product line. Active development and support concluded around 2008 when IBM discontinued the SmartSuite suite.
