History

Founded in 1979 by David L. Britton, Geoffrey M. Lee, and researchers from the Ingres project, Britton Lee initially marketed specialized database machines. The company released ShareBase I and subsequently ShareBase II, a relational database system for client/server architectures. In May 1989, the organization changed its name to ShareBase Corporation. Following financial losses in 1989, it was acquired by Teradata in June 1990.
