MapR-DB was a commercial re-implementation of HBase designed to run in Hadoop clusters.

History

MapR struggled in the late 2010s due to the faded enthusiasm in Hadoop-based technologies. The company announced in 2019 that they were soon to go bankrupt and then were subsequently sold to HPE three months later.
