DeviceSQL was created by a US-based start-up called Encirq in 1998. The company failed and the system was sold to Ubiquitous AI in Japan in

To use DeviceSQL, one writes SQL statements in the application that are then compiled into C code on a development workstation. The system then compiles the C code for the target embedded device.
