History
Reality was originally developed by Microdata Corporation in 1973 as a commercial implementation of the Pick operating system and database concepts. It was distributed by Computer Machinery Company (CMC) starting in 1973. In 1976, CMC merged with Microdata Corporation, combining their operations while maintaining separate trading names until 1981. The system has since been developed and maintained through subsequent corporate transitions, including Northgate Public Services and currently NEC Software Solutions UK, continuing to support MultiValue workloads across multiple platforms.
